Another One To The Pile

When I first got my PS2 in 2001, I was only able to buy one game, Red Faction. It was a first person shooter that I really loved and played the heck out of it. It was especially great because it had destructible environments, they called it GeoModding. Whatever you wanted to call it, it was new, creative and an innovative approach to gameplay.
In the fall of 2002, a sequel was made. It wasnt good. I definitely didnt enjoy it, and my brother and me were pretty disappointed.
Earlier this month, there was a reboot to the franchise, Volition, the development team behind the fantastic Saint's Row games, moved the camera to a third person view, and made it more of an open world game.
The reviews have been pretty good. So I thought it would be a pretty safe purchase, and I added it to the Pile.
If you've played it, let me know in the comments. The reviews talk about a pretty robust multiplayer experience.

1988 was a great year, the winter Olympics were in Alberta, Sonny Bono was elected Mayor in Palm Springs California, Super Mario Bros. 3 is released in Japan, and I got to watch Ghostbusters for the first time.
Ghostbusters has been on my favorite movie list for as long as I can remember. I loved everything about it, and still do; all the characters and all the quotes.
I am really excited to dig into this game. Dan Aykroyd has said that this is a continuation of the Ghostbusters story, which is great news to me, because I've been waiting since 1989 for more Vankman!
Here are a couple of my favorite quotes, please feel free to add some of yours in the comments.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Oh good, you're here!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yeah, what have you got?
Dr. Egon Spengler: This is big, Peter, this is very big. There is definitely something here.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Egon, this reminds me of the time you tried to drill a hole through your head. Remember that?
Dr. Egon Spengler: That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me.
Dr Ray Stantz: Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here.
Walter Peck: They caused an explosion!
Mayor: Is this true?
Dr. Peter Venkman: Yes it's true.
[pause]
Dr. Peter Venkman: This man has no dick.
Walter Peck: Jeez!
[Charges at Venkman]
Mayor: Break it up! Hey, break this up! Break it up!
Walter Peck: All right, all right, all right!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Well, that's what I heard!

June 12th, 2009During lunch today, I stopped into Fry’s to take a look at their game section, and I picked up Lego Batman. I really enjoyed the Lego Star Wars games and found the puzzles to be creative and fun. Plus I love unlocking things. Hopefully Lego Batman will provide the same satisfaction as the series from a galaxy far far away had before.

This is a virtual addition to the pile. Trash Panic! is a PSN exclusive downloadable game where you are given trash of many shapes, weights, and sizes to throw into a trash can. It's pretty interesting so far. Though it is extremely hard to pass the levels! I'll keep at this one. It's nice to sometimes play a mindless puzzle game.

June 7th, 2009I already wrote about Hakuna Matata, but I got another game to start off the weekend with. After seeing the new gameplay this week at E3, I needed to jump back in.
God of War 2. I played God of War 1, however, GoW2 came out after the PS3 was already launched, and I guess I just missed it. I might try to dig into it some time this weekend. But I will definitely finish GoW2 before GoW3 comes out, early next year.

June 7th, 2009I have never imported a game before, but back in 2006, when the PS3 was originally announced, Sony announced a game called Afrika, no, not Africa, but Afrika. The game came out overseas under the new name Hakuna Matata, and I finally got it. Now I know what you're thinking, Timon and Pumbaa would be happy with this purchase.
Unfortunately, a couple days after the game shipped, it was announced that the game would be coming stateside. That's ok.
I hope that I'll enjoy it.
P.S. The Giraffe is the best animal ever

I've been looking forward to inFamous for a while now, and it finally arrived today. Hopefully I can dig a lot deeper into this game this weekend.
It will be a long week at work.
