Downloadable Content - Some of my favorites
Downloadable content is more of a new concept in console gaming. We did see some DLC last generation, and of course PC games have been jacked into the matrix of DLC for ages. Now, on home consoles, we are see larger hard drives, and fast internet connections that really lend themselves to DLC, updates, and patches.
I have definitely partaken in the DLC buffet. Some free DLC, some paid DLC, some good choices, and some bad choices.
Over the span of the current generation, we have seen great DLC (Free Burnout Paradise content), and some not so great DLC (Horse Armor). I am generally seeing a lot of promise in DLC going forward. Check out some of my favorite DLC I’ve downloaded so far.
I have downloaded about 60 songs on Rock band since I got it in late 2007. Harmonix keeps releasing new content on a weekly basis and their production and quality value is extremely. Some of my favorite downloads have been Thrash Unreal, Song With A Mission, and MakeDamnSure. There is probably something for everyone, no matter what your music tastes are.

Probably my favorite game of 2008 was LittleBigPlanet, and Media Molecule has been giving us more reasons to keep coming back. There have been costumes and new mod packs that have been added! Check out some of the great costume packs released so far.
The last piece of DLC I want to highlight is all of the DLC that Criterion has put out in support of their fantastic game Burnout Paradise. There was free DLC as well as paid DLC. I partook in both. There was a whole new vehicle type added, motorcycles. They are fast, fun, and an amazing addition to the game. That huge update was free. I also bought some movie cars to add to the game, a car inspired by the Back to the Future movies.

When developers support their games, through both free and paid DLC, more people will support them. Thank you to all the developers who support their games with quality content, and to the developers who use DLC as a cash-grab, in the long run it won't work. Be creative, that will always get my dollar.
What DLC have you really liked or disliked? Let me know in the comments!
